The condition of the road infrastructure in Nalchik has given rise to criticism of officials.

On Atazhukina Street in Nalchik, children find it difficult to cross the road at night due to the lack of lighting and pedestrian crossings, complained a local resident. Other residents of Nalchik, commenting on her complaint on social media, pointed out the absence of sidewalks, the poor condition of the road, and criticized the city administration for the state of the street's infrastructure.

One local resident filmed a video of Atazhukina Street in Nalchik and complained that it is impossible to cross in the evening due to problems with pedestrian crossings. The video was published on September 17 by the Instagram*-public chp.nalchik. The footage shows the roadway at night with cars moving on it.

"It is impossible to cross the road on Atazhukina with children, not a single pedestrian, it’s dark, we don’t know where to complain anymore," says the caption to the video.

As of 13:25 MSK on September 18, this video on the Instagram*-public chp.nalchik, which has about 524 thousand followers, received 141 likes and 15 comments. The authors, identifying themselves as local residents, pointed out the absence of sidewalks, lighting, and pedestrian crossings, the poor condition of the road, and criticized the city administration and developers.

"This street used to be temporary – a detour for Tarchokov. Naturally, no sidewalks or streetlights were planned there. And now it is the main street that everyone uses to bypass the repairs on Tarchokov, but the road has deteriorated, and there will be no sidewalks or streetlights this year. Children walk to school and to training on it early in the morning and in the evening. Right on the road. In the dark. In 25 years, neither a sidewalk has appeared nor a single streetlight. But there are holes half a meter deep," pointed out the user avtodom07.

"No matter how much we write about this, I cross the road here every morning, cars just fly by, not a single pedestrian crossing, little children return from school, mothers with strollers stand, and I too! It’s just a terrible nightmare, just make a pedestrian crossing. Until something happens there, they probably won’t do anything!" wrote chadra_07.

As of 13:25 MSK on September 18, there are no comments on the Nalchik administration's website regarding residents' complaints about the state of the road infrastructure on Atazhukina Street.

For example, on February 23, 2024, after complaints from residents, the power lines on Kaliningrad Street were repaired and the lights were replaced.
