The court in St. Petersburg extended the arrest of blogger Ilya Remeslo for six months.

The Primorsky Court extended the detention of blogger Ilya Remeslo until March 8, 2027, who is accused of spreading fakes about the Russian army. The defense stated that it considers any preventive measure for Remeslo excessive, as the blogger has no motives to hide from the court.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 3, the Basmanny Court of Moscow extended the arrest of blogger Ilya Remeslo, accused of spreading fakes about the army. Remeslo stated that freedom of speech is enshrined in the Constitution, and the defense requested to soften the preventive measure, as the blogger cannot hide or influence the course of the investigation.

Blogger Ilya Remeslo participated in the proceedings via video link from the pre-trial detention center in Moscow, while the defenders were present in person. The prosecutor requested to close the proceedings, but the accused and the lawyers objected, after which the court decided to continue the session in open mode, TASS reports today.

The blogger requested to change his preventive measure to a milder one, as he is permanently registered in St. Petersburg in his own apartment and can freely attend the sessions from there, has a disabled father, would like to communicate with his minor children, has not been previously convicted, and considers his guilt unproven.

Lawyers Sergey Badamishin and Anri Tsiskarishvili supported their client's position, stating that they consider any preventive measure for Remeslo excessive, as he, in their opinion, is innocent of the incriminated acts, while the investigation in the case is completed, the accused cannot hinder the investigation, and Remeslo has no motives to hide from the court.

The prosecutor requested to maintain the preventive measure for the defendant in the form of detention. According to data from the indictment, previously reported by the defendant's lawyer Badamishin, Remeslo spread information that contradicts the official data of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. One of the pieces of evidence in the case, according to the defender, was an interview of the blogger with journalist Ksenia Sobchak.

The court, represented by Judge Dmitry Khamadiev, ruled to deny Remeslo's request to change the preventive measure, to leave the preventive measure in the form of detention unchanged, and to extend the term of the accused's detention until March 8, 2027. The court will begin an open hearing in the case on September 23 at 14:00.

It should be noted that the blogger is charged with the final version - publicly spreading knowingly false information about the use of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for a prison sentence of five to ten years.
