Chechnya found itself in the zone of drone attacks

The military shot down four drones over Chechnya, the only region in the North Caucasus Federal District where a drone attack was recorded overnight. Drones were also shot down in the Krasnodar, Volgograd, and Rostov regions.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," drone attack threats were issued tonight in five regions of the North Caucasus Federal District: Chechnya, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia, and Stavropol Krai. Due to flight safety concerns, airport restrictions were imposed in Vladikavkaz, Grozny, Magas, Makhachkala, and Nalchik.

19 drones shot down in four regions of southern Russia

Forty-five Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed overnight, including four over the territory of the Chechen Republic, the Ministry of Defense reported on its Telegram channel.

According to the publication, Chechnya was the only region in the North Caucasus Federal District where a drone attack was recorded. Eight drones were also shot down in the Krasnodar Territory, five in the Volgograd Region, two in the Rostov Region, and three over the Black Sea.

The remaining drones were destroyed in Crimea, as well as in the Bryansk, Oryol, Lipetsk, and Tver Regions, the agency reported.

Restrictions at North Caucasus Federal District Airports Lifted

Restrictions imposed due to flight safety concerns have been lifted at airports in Vladikavkaz, Grozny, Magas, Makhachkala, and Nalchik, Rosaviatsiya Press Secretary Artem Korenyako reported on his Telegram channel.

In the Rostov Region, UAVs were destroyed in the Belokalitvinsky and Sholokhovsky Districts, Governor Yuri Slyusar reported. "No one was hurt. Information about the consequences is being clarified," he wrote on his Telegram channel at 5:44 a.m. Moscow time.

The Volgograd Region administration, the Krasnodar Krai task force, and the head of Chechnya, as of 8:45 a.m. Moscow time, had not reported on the consequences of the attacks on their Telegram channels.

The heads of Kabardino-Balkaria and North Ossetia, the governor of Stavropol, and the Dagestan branch of the Ministry of Emergency Situations briefly announced the cancellation of the previously announced drone attack threat on their Telegram channels. The reports were published between 7:03 and 8:20 Moscow time.

As a reminder, Chechnya was hit by a drone attack for the first time since the military operation began on October 29, 2024, resulting in a building on the grounds of the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes catching fire. On the morning of the attack, Ramzan Kadyrov stated that "the roof of an empty building caught fire," and there were no casualties. However, Kadyrov later announced new information, stating that there were casualties among Ukrainian prisoners. According to him, Ukrainian prisoners are being held "at every strategic facility in the republic."

On December 4, 2024, a drone attack occurred again in Grozny, after which Kadyrov proposed placing Ukrainian prisoners on the roofs of facilities that could become targets.

On December 12, 2024, a drone was shot down over the Ministry of Internal Affairs barracks in Grozny, wounding four guards. Footage of the next drone attack, carried out on December 15, 2024, is featured in the "Caucasian Knot" video "The Fourth Drone Attack on Chechnya."
