A Sochi native received a 13-year sentence for treason and preparing a terrorist attack.

A military court in Rostov-on-Don found Viktor Krymsky guilty of preparing a terrorist attack on behalf of the Right Sector* and collecting information about military units.

Viktor Krymsky's case was heard under a special procedure because he entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement. This plea bargain entails the defendant admitting to the charges against him in order to receive a more lenient sentence than stipulated by the charges.

Krymsky was charged with preparing a terrorist attack, organizing the activities of an extremist organization, and treason. According to the prosecution, on June 18, 2024, while in Stavropol, the young man marked on a map screenshot "the location of a combat vehicle belonging to a military unit providing air defense for the international airport and the administrative and industrial center of the Adler district of Sochi." He sent this image to an unidentified member of the Right Sector, the press service of the Southern District Military Court reported on December 1.

According to the prosecution, Krymsky used the same method to mark on a map the location of a military unit in Sochi, cisterns and underground reservoirs containing fuel and lubricants on its territory, railway tracks, ammunition containers, and the locations of units.

On June 28, 2024, Krymsky, according to the prosecution, became a member of the Right Sector by recording a video message voluntarily joining the organization. He then pledged to select targets for terrorist attacks, conduct reconnaissance, and locate the components of a homemade incendiary device. It was assumed that Krymsky would transfer the components he purchased to certain other accomplices, whom the investigation has not identified, who would then manufacture an incendiary bomb and commit the attack.

On July 3, 2024, Krymsky observed a military unit in Stavropol and photographed its surroundings. He sent the collected data on equipment, personnel, and weapons to an unknown member of the Right Sector, along with information on the locations of the buildings of the FSB Directorate for the Stavropol Territory, the government, the electoral commission, and the Duma of the Stavropol Territory.

According to the indictment, Viktor Krymsky also acquired the components for manufacturing the device. On August 10, he sent an accomplice a map of the Stavropol Electoral Commission building, graphically marking the entrances and exits, and on August 16, he arrived there to "gather additional information." On August 29, 2024, Krymsky was detained by security forces.

The court sentenced Viktor Krymsky to 13 years in a maximum-security prison, with the first three years to be served in prison.

Viktor Krymsky is 19 years old and a native of Sochi, according to his entry in the Rosfinmonitoring register of terrorists and extremists. His data was added to the list on September 11, 2024, according to a bot tracking updates to the list.
