Court finds three KBR’s residents to be IS militants
The North-Caucasian District Military Court has sentenced Islam Efendiev, Rustan Buttaev and Islam Osmanov, residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), to long prison terms. The defence has declared their innocence.

A Chechen killed near border had to join militants, his relatives claim

Chechen resident sentenced for joining a militant grouping
Magomed Dudaev, a resident of the Shali District, was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony for joining an illegal armed formation (IAF) in 2016. According to the law enforcement agencies, IAF members did not show themselves in the past year.

"Novaya Gazeta": Cossack Roman Zabolotniy killed for Syrian oil
Cossack Roman Zabolotniy from the Rostov Region went to Syria to protect oil fields. Contractors have to fight off targets from militants, and the former paratrooper who was captured together with Roman Zabolotniy was involved in a battle for oil, the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" reports.

Cossack Roman Zabolotniy captured by militants in Syria was executed with another Russian citizen after refusing to become a member of the IS. The “Caucasian Knot" publishes the agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which was initialed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8, 2025, through the mediation of US President Donald Trump. The meeting of Trump, Aliyev and Pashinyan took place on August 8 in Washington. Following the meeting, Pashinyan and Aliyev also signed a joint declaration.
