The Southern District Military Court sentenced Yalta resident Vitaly Cherny to 22 years in a strict regime, finding him guilty of manufacturing explosives and treason.

The court sentenced Yalta resident Vitaly Cherny, finding him guilty of trafficking in explosive substances, preparing for the illegal manufacture of an explosive device, undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, and treason.

The case materials indicate that in February-March 2024, while living in Yalta, Cherny contacted an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine via messenger and expressed his readiness to take actions against the security of Russia, writes "Kommersant" on September 21, citing the court's press service.

From the curator, he received an assignment to acquire explosive substances and necessary components for making an improvised explosive device and hide it in a cache. The convicted person fulfilled the assignments, storing the explosive device at home, but was detained by law enforcement officers in April of the same year.

The court sentenced Cherny to 22 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony, with the first five years in prison, as well as a fine of 250,000 rubles.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that in May, the Southern District Military Court sent a resident of Kerch for compulsory treatment in a psychiatric clinic, finding him guilty of preparing a terrorist act.
