A mining farm illegally connected to the power grid was discovered in the village of Balakhani.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", since the beginning of the year, 52 illegal mining farms have been discovered in Dagestan, and 958 devices for cryptocurrency mining have been seized.

In the village of Balakhani in the Unzukul district, energy workers and law enforcement discovered yet another illegal mining farm, writes RIA "Dagestan" on September 21, citing the head of the Gumbetovskaya RES branch of "Dagenegro" Mukhtarakmed Murtazaev.

During the inspection, 10 devices for cryptocurrency mining were found, each with a power of about 3.5 kW, totaling approximately 35 kW. The equipment was connected to the power grid without a contract with the energy supply organization.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that illegal mining farms have been repeatedly found in the Unzukul district: in August - in the villages of Maidanskoe, Unzukul and Shamilkala, in June - in the villages of Unzukul and twice in the village of Maidanskoe, in January - in Shamilkala.

In December 2024, the head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov signed an appeal to the government of Russia requesting a ban on cryptocurrency mining in the republic due to the load on the power grid. The Russian government introduced a complete ban on mining from 2025 until March 15, 2031, including in Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, and Chechnya.
