The names of two killed soldiers from Dagestan in Ukraine have been announced.

Mail Shikhsefiyev and Abdurakhim Kardanov from the Akhtynsky district were killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have acknowledged at least 2071 servicemen from Dagestan killed there.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by August 12, officials and security forces officially named the names of at least 2069 killed fighters from Dagestan in Ukraine.

The names of two more killed soldiers from Dagestan were announced by the administration of the Akhtynsky district, reporting on the presentation of posthumous awards to their relatives.

One of the killed, a native of the district, Mail Shikhsefiyev, was posthumously awarded the Zhukov Medal. Another, Abdurakhim Kardanov from the village of Lutkun, was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, the official Telegram channel of the municipality reported.

The age and biographical details of the killed are not provided in the officials' message. Kardanov, as specified in the publication about him, went to the combat zone as a volunteer.

Thus, at least 2071 combatants from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and security agencies, according to the report of "Caucasian Knot" "Statistics of the Special Military Operation: losses are increasing for southern Russia".

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of killed whose names have been officially disclosed by the authorities. Sergey Melikov, who headed Dagestan in February 2022, was the first among the representatives of the authorities to announce that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on "Channel One" do not guarantee support from the state for the families of the killed, as stated in the material of "Caucasian Knot" "Three comrades served: how authorities deprive families of killed volunteers of benefits", which describes the stories of the killed fighters. For instance, the mother of the killed Dmitry Ukhanov said that she searched for her son's body for four months, while officials from the administration and military enlistment office inquired about the progress of the search without providing any help.
