Officials ignored the complaints of Chegem residents about water supply interruptions.

In the village of Lechinkai in the Chegem district, water is supplied to homes only for one and a half to two hours in the mornings, a local resident complained on social media. Residents of other settlements in Kabardino-Balkaria, commenting on her post, noted that water supply interruptions have been ongoing for years and appeals do not change the situation, and in Chegem itself, there has been no water for at least two weeks.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", residents of Kabardino-Balkaria have repeatedly complained about water supply issues during the summer season. For instance, on June 22, a resident of Chegem reported on social media that many streets regularly remain without water supply in the summer. Other city residents supported his demand for authorities to resolve the issue, suggesting that water is being used for irrigation.

A resident of the village of Lechinkai complained about water supply interruptions on Brothers Thazapliyev Street. According to her, during the hot period, water is supplied in the mornings only for one and a half to two hours, which prevents her family with four children from meeting their household needs.

"I would like to file a complaint regarding water interruptions in the village of Lechinkai, on Brothers Thazapliyev Street, 125a. We have water problems during the hot period. Water is supplied in the mornings for one and a half to two hours. By nine in the morning, sometimes at ten, there is no water. We have four children at home, and we cannot bathe and wash them properly," she said.

The post by the resident of Lechinkai was published on August 1 on the Instagram*-public chp.nalchik, which has about 517 thousand followers. As of 14:00 MSK on August 2, the post had received 172 likes and 39 comments.

Discussion participants noted that residents of Lechinkai remain without water for most of the day, including during the heat. Interruptions have been ongoing for several weeks.

"How can people live in 30-degree heat without water? There seems to be no end in sight. No one cares," wrote user m_k_15_11_.

"It's a cry of the soul. At 10 in the morning, not a drop of water, sometimes even at nine, for several weeks now," stated umm_usman_rukaiya.

Some commentators noted that water supply problems in Lechinkai have been observed for many years, and residents' appeals do not lead to changes.

"As far as I remember, we have had this problem all our lives, it's no surprise, and there is no point in complaining," wrote user fndkwbsh__.

"This is mockery of the residents of the village of Lechinkai. How are we supposed to survive in such weather? We live in the 21st century, and the water problems persist as they always have," emphasized user malaia0706.

Residents of other settlements in Kabardino-Balkaria also complained about the prolonged lack of water. In Chegem, interruptions have been ongoing for at least two weeks, and in Dygulybge – for about a month.

"We have had no water in the city of Chegem for two weeks already," wrote zalina_8899.

"We have had no water for a month, not a drop. Dygulybge," noted zaremka_bakaeva.

Some discussion participants linked the interruptions to water being used for garden irrigation. One user referred to a response received from a water utility worker.

Commentators also complained that residents continue to pay for water despite unstable supply. A user from Nartkala indicated the fee for each registered resident.

"The city of Nartkala is not lagging behind: water is turned off every other day, the water pressure is low. We pay based on the number of registered residents – 440 rubles per person," noted bahova_mariana.

As of 14:00 MSK, there were no comments on the Chegem district administration's website regarding local residents' complaints about water supply interruptions.

Recall that on April 1, residents of large villages within the city district of Nalchik were left without water due to supply interruptions. Authorities explained the reasons for the water shutdown by the reduced transparency of rivers caused by rains. Residents of Kabardino-Balkaria doubted the connection between the water shutdowns and the rains. The rains in the republic were minimal, but the 'Water Utility' shuts off water, citing increased turbidity caused by them. The shutdowns create inconveniences, noted villagers on April 1. The shutdowns are caused by the fact that the treatment facilities at the water intakes are not functioning properly, an ecologist pointed out.
