The Anti-Corruption Committee reported new arrests of representatives of the Strong Armenia bloc in cases of pre-election bribery. About 760 supporters of the bloc were detained in similar cases, 103 were arrested, according to the bloc's leader, Samvel Karapetyan.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, the Central Election Commission of Armenia granted the petition of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia to open a criminal case and deprive David Ghazinyan, a candidate for parliament from Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan's opposition bloc "Strong Armenia." Security forces arrested Ghazinyan.

As a result of activities carried out by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, factual evidence was obtained indicating that the individuals appointed as officials at the Strong Armenia party's office in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan, in prior collusion with supporters of the party and a group of individuals collaborating with them, made promises to voters and also gave them an election bribe, News.Am reported.

The Strong Armenia party denies the accusations, calling the actions of the security forces political persecution and the published recordings fabricated. The bloc's representative, lawyer Aram Vardevanyan, stated that they are being used for political pressure and smear campaigns against the opposition. He noted the unusually high sound quality, which, in his opinion, creates the impression that the participants in the conversation were speaking directly into the microphone, so that every word could be clearly heard, Armenia Today reports.

On June 16, the Armenian Prosecutor's Office reported that since the start of the National Assembly elections, it has sent 17 criminal cases to court regarding alleged electoral crimes against 60 people. The detentions of opposition members and their supporters come amid threats made against them by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the election campaign and after the elections.

The leader of the Strong Armenia bloc, Samvel Karapetyan, reported that approximately 760 people from his political camp have been detained, and 103 have been arrested.
