Two Ingushetia residents have been convicted of selling weapons.

An Ingush court sentenced local residents Khasan Tsechoev and Magomed Esmurziev to lengthy prison terms in a maximum security penal colony after finding them guilty of selling weapons and explosive devices.

The Nazran District Court handed down the sentence to Ingushetia residents Khasan Tsechoev and Magomed Esmurziev.

According to the investigation, Tsechoev kept 144 VOG-17M rounds with fragmentation grenades and VMG-M instantaneous and inertial fuses at home. An AGS-17 "Plamya" mounted automatic grenade launcher, as well as the automatic grenade launcher itself, Interfax reported on June 2.

In June 2023, he offered Esmurziev a buyer willing to purchase the rounds and grenade launcher for 200,000 rubles. Esmurziev colluded with a local resident, who offered the weapons to an acquaintance, but the latter reported the situation to law enforcement, after which he participated in investigative operations as a conditional buyer.

In July of that year, in the village of Ekazhevo, the conditional buyer handed Esmurziev's acquaintance 270,000 rubles and a Lada Granta. The seller, in turn, kept 70,000 rubles for himself, handed Esmurziev the remaining 200,000 rubles and the car, then went to Tsechoev's house to pick up the weapons.

Tsechoev placed ammunition and a grenade launcher in the trunk of the car. Esmurziev transported them to an acquaintance, who handed them over to a potential buyer along with the car.

The defendants pleaded not guilty in court. Tsechoev was found guilty of illegal possession, transportation, and sale of explosive devices and large-caliber firearms, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, and Esmurziev was found guilty of illegal transportation and sale of explosive devices and large-caliber firearms, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. Tsechoev was sentenced to 13 years in a maximum security penal colony and a fine of 650,000 rubles, while Esmurziev was sentenced to 11.5 years in a maximum security penal colony and a fine of 600,000 rubles.

Previously, "Caucasian Knot" reported that in early May, the Nazran District Court sentenced Issa Polonkoev to six and a half years in prison after ammunition and a grenade were found during a search of his home. The appeals court upheld the verdict.
