The number of people affected by the flood in Dagestan has exceeded 6,200.

More than 6,200 people have been affected by flooding in Dagestan, with more than 700 people in temporary accommodation centers, the regional governor reported.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot" newspaper, on April 6, 2,075 residential buildings and 1,817 household plots in seven municipalities in Dagestan remained flooded. Residents of the village of Mamedkala in the Derbent District affected by the flooding complained of the authorities' indifference and poor organization of volunteer assistance.

More than 6,200 people have been affected by flooding in Dagestan, the head of the republic, Sergey Melikov, announced today.

"More than 6,200 people have been affected by the flooding and the natural disaster, approximately the same number of homes, private plots, and business facilities," he said.

According to Melikov, 55 temporary accommodation centers have been set up in the republic, housing more than 700 people, RIA Novosti reports.

As a reminder, financial assistance of 15,600 rubles has been provided for each flood victim in Dagestan. Compensations for loss of property, health, or loved ones have also been announced. By April 2, the republic's authorities had received more than four thousand applications for compensation for damage caused by the flood.

Dagestan and Chechnya suffered the most from the disaster, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Spring Flooding in the North Caucasus - 2026".
