Seven soldiers from Dagestan were killed in Ukraine.

Ibrahim Musakayev, Azamat Pakhrutdinov, Rasul Abdulazizov, and four of their fellow countrymen from the Karabudakhkent district were killed in the fighting. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have acknowledged the death toll of at least 1,890 combatants from Dagestan.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, by April 2, the authorities and security forces had publicly named at least 1,883 fighters from Dagestan killed in the war zone in Ukraine.

The Karabudakhkent district administration announced the names of seven soldiers killed in Ukraine, reporting on the presentation of posthumous awards to their relatives.

The killed were Magomedgadzhi Yunusov, Magomed Mamaeva, Magomedsalam Gadzhiev, Rasul Abdulazizov, Ibrahim Musakayev, Azamat Pakhrutdinov, and Yunus Ibrahimov. All were from the villages of Karabudakhkent, Gurbuki, Geli, Achi, and Agachaul, according to the municipal administration's Telegram channel.

The soldiers' relatives were awarded "Orders of Courage and other insignia," officials reported, without specifying the specific award. The publication also did not provide the soldiers' ages or details about their biographies.

Thus, at least 1,890 servicemen from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list is based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "North Caucasus Military District Statistics: Losses Are Growing for Southern Russia."

The Karabudakhkent District Administration rarely reports on fellow countrymen killed in the combat zone in Ukraine. In the spring of 2024, officials named two killed: Dzhanbolat Karabuzakov and Jamil Saidov. Overall, Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of those killed, whose names have been officially released by the authorities. Back in February 2022, the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, was the first government official to declare that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that 18-year-old Said Murtazaliev from Dagestan was tortured by security forces in the Moscow region to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. In the combat zone, commanders forced him to collect money, after which the young man was declared missing. "I myself was sent to the assault, where Comrade 'Spartak' said he'd received an order to erase me," Murtazaliev said in his final video message sent to his mother. State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of the slain, according to the Caucasian Knot article "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Slain Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "He has two Orders of Courage. But no official honors have been bestowed upon his family," a relative of one of the slain soldiers said.
