The idea of ​​creating a park on the site of a trolleybus depot has found a response from Makhachkala residents.

Makhachkala residents supported the idea proposed by journalists to create a green recreation area on the site of the liquidated trolleybus department.

The trolleybus department, which owns attractive plots of land, was deliberately driven to a dire financial state, a journalist and a former employee of the company suggested.

The idea of ​​creating a park on the site of the trolleybus administration building was outlined on March 23rd in the Telegram channel of the publication "Novoe Delo."

"The territory of the recently liquidated trolleybus administration building is an excellent, ready-made area for a park. There are no public spaces in this part of the city, and the land is already municipal; there's no need to buy it; it just needs to be held. We should begin preparing the area for a park. And then, with a little effort, we could even apply for some federal improvement programs," the publication opined.

Makhachkala residents interviewed by a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent supported the idea of ​​creating a park on this site. The survey is not representative and reflects only the personal opinions of those surveyed.

In particular, pensioner Rashid noted that there are no green spaces in the area. "This is the very center of the city, still called the 'Trolleybus Ring.' It's heavily polluted due to the large volume of traffic. There are no green spaces nearby. A park would be a great option," he said.

Let there be a green recreation area for people.

Teacher Madina also spoke in favor of creating a park. "I hope they don't build up the depot area with high-rise buildings. There are already parking problems; this part of the city is constantly jammed with traffic. Let there be a green recreation area for people," she said.

Housewife Leila expressed a similar opinion. "Let there be a park with a playground, otherwise there's nowhere to take the kids. But I don't think city officials care about the residents' opinions; they'll just sell the land for commercial development," the woman said.

I'm for a park, but who's going to listen to our point of view?

Entrepreneur Rustam also expressed skepticism. "They promised to keep the trolleybuses, but they didn't keep their promise. I don't trust the officials anymore. I'm for a park, but who's going to listen to our point of view?" he said.

As a reminder, in March 2023, activists from the "Our City" movement supported residents' proposals to create new parks in Makhachkala, confirming that green spaces are insufficient. The city no longer has space for a new large park, so several mini-parks could be developed, activists argued.

Makhachkala lacks recreational parks, residents complained in February 2023, suggesting several locations where they believed parks could be established. Fifty trees have been planted in the park near Lake Ak-Gel, the mayor's office reported in April of that year.

Makhachkala residents have also repeatedly protested against development of existing parks. For example, in October 2022, the construction of gazebos in Leninsky Komsomol Park raised concerns among residents. They pointed out that cutting down trees and building gazebos in one of the few green spaces is unacceptable. Following this, the Makhachkala prosecutor's office revoked the permit for the construction of the gazebos.

In January 2023, it was announced that an 11-story hotel was planned for construction in Leninsky Komsomol Park. Following protests from residents, authorities announced that the site owner had agreed not to build the hotel.
