According to security forces, this man, "on instructions from Ukrainian intelligence services," planted an explosive device in a hiding place, which the woman, detained in December, used to attempt to bomb a car near a military unit.

"During the attempted arrest, the attacker offered armed resistance to FSB special forces and was neutralized by return fire. There were no casualties among law enforcement officers or civilians," the publication stated.

A Makarov pistol, an F-1 hand grenade, and a backpack containing an improvised explosive device were found at the scene, the agency stated.
