A North Ossetian soldier was killed in Ukraine.

Astan Nadgeriev from the Irafsky District was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have publicly named at least 539 North Ossetian soldiers killed there.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by January 9, officials and security forces had officially recognized at least 4,172 soldiers from the North Caucasus Federal District killed in the combat zone in Ukraine, including 538 from North Ossetia.

The head of the Irafsky District administration named the next North Ossetian soldier killed in Ukraine today.

The deceased is Astan Nadgeriev from the village of Novy Urukh; he was 33 years old. He will be buried in his home village on January 13, according to the municipality's official Telegram channel. Details of Nadgeriev's biography and death were not provided in the officials' statement.

Thus, at least 539 combatants from North Ossetia have been officially recognized as killed in Ukraine. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially announced by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "North Ossetian Military District Statistics: Casualties Are Growing for Southern Russia".

The Irafsky District administration reports fewer deaths of fellow countrymen in Ukraine than authorities in other districts of the republic. In November, they announced the name of one killed - 22-year-old David Salagaev from the village of Surkh-Digora.

"Caucasian Knot" also wrote that at least six residents of the village of Goyty in the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya were killed in the combat zone in Ukraine on the same day, but the republic's authorities rarely release data on casualties at the front.
