In Dagestan, social security employees have been arrested in connection with a maternity capital fraud case.

The Kirovsky District Court of Makhachkala has arrested four employees of the Social Fund of Russia's branch in the Republic of Dagestan, suspected of fraud in the receipt of over 49 million rubles.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on November 18, the Supreme Court of Dagestan sentenced seven defendants to terms ranging from 6 to 17 years in a case involving the embezzlement of 170 million rubles from the state microfinance fund for small and medium businesses.

The Kirovsky District Court of Makhachkala has ordered pretrial detention for four employees of the Social Fund of Russia on suspicion of fraud. They are suspected of embezzling over 49 million rubles in maternity capital funds.

"The court, having reviewed the investigators' motions and taking into account the circumstances set out in the materials, ordered the suspects to be remanded in custody for a period of two months, until January 16, 2026," Interfax quotes the joint press service of the courts of Dagestan as saying on November 19.

According to the investigation, the suspects conspired with representatives of a consumer credit cooperative in 2023. The participants in the scheme created forged documents for the purchase of housing from various housing cooperatives, although the borrowers did not actually purchase the property. Using these documents, the arrested individuals cashed out maternity capital funds, RBC reports.
