In April 2024, 11 people were killed in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In April 2024, 16 victims were recorded in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. In Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia, 11 people were killed and 5 others wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On April 11, the CTO regime was introduced in Nalchik and the Cherek District. Law enforcers blocked several suspected militants in a garden community in Nalchik. After an offer to surrender, they opened fire. According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), law enforcers shot dead two members of a grouping that was part of an international terrorist organization and had planned sabotage and terror acts in Kabardino-Balkaria. Those killed were local residents born in 1997 and 2004.

At night on April 22, policemen were attacked in Karachaevsk while patrolling the territory. Unknown people opened fire and then stole the policeman's weapons. Lieutenant Murat Kalakhanov and Sergeant Roman Guschin perished; and another policeman was wounded. Five suspects were on the wanted list: Akhmat and Ruslan Elkanov, Kazbek Djazaev, Ruslan Semyonov and Vladimir Averianov, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.

At night on April 29, an attack was committed on law enforcers in the village of Mara-Ayagy, Karachay District, and five suspected militants were killed. They were identified as participants in the April 22 attack on policemen in Karachaevsk. As a result, Lieutenant Colonel Anton Valikov and Police Sergeant Andrei Artamonov perished; three policemen and a fighter of the "Rosgvardiya" (Russian National Guard) were wounded.

In April 2024, in other regions of Northern Caucasus, namely, in Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia-Alania, Stavropol Territory and Chechnya, no armed incidents or casualties of the armed conflict were recorded.

Earlier, in March 2024, six victims were recorded: six suspected militants were shot dead in Ingushetia.
