Armenian side reports shelling near villages of Syunik Region

The Azerbaijani armed forces use small- and large-calibre weapons to shell the immediate vicinity of the villages in the Syunik Region of Armenia, the Ombudsman of Armenia claims today. The head of the Agarak village community also reports about the shelling.

Today, Armenian Ombudsman Arman Totoyan has posted a video on his Facebook page. According to his version, it confirms the shelling in the immediate vicinity of the villages in the Syunik Region. The Azerbaijani armed forces shell the territory from small- and large-calibre weapons. "The video was recorded two days ago, at different moments during the day, in the area between the villages of Agarak and Yegvard of the Kapan community. The distance from the place, where the shots were fired, to the village of Agarak is about one kilometre in a straight line. No units of the Azerbaijani armed forces should be deployed in close proximity to the communities of Syunik, on the roads connecting those communities, since they would pose a serious threat to the rights of civilians and undermine their peaceful life," the Ombudsman emphasized.

Shots are often heard in the village of Agarak in the Syunik Region, Hayk Sargsyan, the head of the village community, reports today. The Azerbaijani armed forces stay at a distance of one kilometre from the lower part of the village, and four kilometres from its upper part, the "News.Am" quotes Hayk Sargsyan as saying.
