Film about Novocherkassk execution shortlisted for Oscar

A film by Andrei Konchalovsky "Dear Comrades!" about the shooting of workers in Novocherkassk is among 15 films shortlisted for the Oscar in the Best Foreign Feature Film nomination.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November 2020, the Russian Oscar Committee nominated the above Konchalovsky's film for the Oscar Award. The author himself expressed doubt that spectators and critics abroad would be able to understand the contradictions of life in the USSR at that time.

The film "Dear Comrades!" by Andrei Konchalovsky tells about the execution by shooting of workers at an electric locomotive repair factory in Novocherkassk in June 1962 through the eyes of a local communist party worker who loses her daughter during the events.

The film has shortlisted for the Oscar Academy Award for the Best Foreign Feature Film.

The final list of nominees will be announced on March 15, and the awarding ceremony of the 93rd Academy Awards will be held on April 25 and will be broadcast in over 225 countries, says the statement posted on the Academy's website.
