A resident of Chechnya, detained in the summer of 2019 on the border with Syria, was accused of trying to join the ranks of militants of the "Islamic State" (IS)*. In contradiction to the authorities' statements, a certificate confirming that a person is not infected with coronavirus does not guarantee the possibility of entering Chechnya, local residents claim. Gachai Gafarov, a member of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), has been arrested for 15 days on charges of disobeying the police. Gafarov's father and PFPA activists have linked the arrest with the young man's criticism of the police in social networks.
