Russia creates new database on crimes against journalists
As reported by John Crowfoot, the creator of the database and an expert of the International Federation of Journalists, and Roman Serebryany, advisor of the chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia, at the training seminar on "Youth Leadership" in Makhachkala, Russia is creating a database of crimes committed against journalists. The seminar was attended by Dagestani, Chechen and Ingush journalists.

Chechnya celebrates April 16 as Day of Peace and CTO cancellation
On Saturday, April 16, the Chechen Republic will mark the second anniversary of cancellation of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime, which had lasted in the republic for almost 10 years. Tskhinvali lacks specialist to service equipment for rearing premature infants
At the maternity hospital of the capital of South Ossetia, the absence of a child resuscitator-neonatology physician creates problems in rearing premature babies. This was stated by Vadim Tedeev chief physician of the hospital. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent managed to find out that the young woman-postgraduate student, sent by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Development of South Ossetia to Russia for training in this specialty, got married and never returned to Tskhinvali.

Finland tries Shamil Basaev's brother and editor of "Kavkaz-Centre"
Today, a trial has started in Finland on the case of illegal immigration of Chechen natives. One of the defendants in this case is Abdulkhamid Mechiev, 26, who identified himself as the brother of Shamil Basaev, field commander of Chechen militants. The court will announce its verdict on May 9.

Figurant in Manege Square riots sentenced to conditional imprisonment
In Moscow, the court has sentenced a Muscovite Vladislav Khakhanov to a conditional term for participation in the pogroms in Manege Square on December 11, 2010. For beating in the metro a man of non-Slavic appearance he was sentenced to conditional imprisonment for a term of six months with one-year probation.

Woman from Makhachkala suburb reports about bribes in hospitals
Patu Abdullaeva, a resident of Dagestan, complains about bribe extortions at local medical institutions. She has reported about it to the "Caucasian Knot" by means of the new SMS-service. The hospital denied the allegations; and Zoya Magomedova, head of the medical department of the Dagestani Ministry of Public Health, said that nobody had complained about any facts of this sort.
