In Dagestan, the lawyer Patimat Abdulaeva, who is representing the interests of ten workers of the Kizlyar Cognac Factory, has filed an appeal complaint today against the court's decision to dismiss the workers' claim for defamation, lodged by them against Ramazan Abdulatipov, the head of Dagestan, who, according to the plaintiffs, had publicly insulted them by calling them "thieves" and "bandits."

On October 14, speaking at a sitting of the Presidential Human Rights Council (HRC), the Russian President promised to draw investigators' attention to the need to investigate the killings of journalists in Dagestan. In his turn, Mikhail Fedotov, the head of the HRC, said that most of the President's instructions issued on the outcomes of the HRC sittings are not fulfilled.

This year, as a result of coordinated law enforcement and prevention activities, the number of terrorist crimes has reduced more than two times in comparison with the same period of the past year. This has been reported today by Alexander Bortnikov, the Director of the Russian FSB, the Chairman of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) at the NAC meeting in Moscow. The Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has refused to take up the appeal of the Government of Azerbaijan filed against the ECtHR's decision to recognize the violation of the rights of Ilgar Mamedov, the leader of the civil movement "Republican Alternative" (ReAl), who was sentenced in the case of the riots in Ismailly. In the Krasnodar Territory, the Novorossiysk Garrison Military Court has found two soldiers of the military unit No. 74814 guilty of extortion with use of violence against their colleague. On October 13, Nadezhda Kireeva, Olga Eshenko, and Olga Stepanova, three mothers of large families, spent two hours standing on the stairs of the building of the government of the Volgograd Region, demanding a meeting with the Governor. After their action, the women discussed the problems at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection for the Volgograd Region. However, they are dissatisfied with the results of the meeting, and they intend to continue protesting.
