Activities of journalists in Northern Caucasus remain a dangerous course in the profession, which is closely connected with pressure and repressions, and often with opposition to the power. This opinion has been expressed by Russian journalists who took part in the selection of laureates and presentation of the prize named after Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev.

The Supreme Court (SC) of the Russian Federation has upheld the verdict in the case against Khamzat Aldiev, despite the fact that the defendant left the ranks of militants, surrendered under guarantees of the Ingush leaders and was pardoned. The fate of Khamzat Aldiev is unlikely to be a convincing example for militants who want to "go out of the woods." This opinion was expressed by the human rights defenders interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The applicant in the case "Dadaeva at al vs. Russia" was the aunt (mother's sister) mother of Zaur Dadaev, now accused in killing Boris Nemtsov, the newspaper "Kommersant" reports.
