Two internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Jebrail District of Azerbaijan, arrested after a protest action against the electricity cut-off in villages and towns for IDPs, are sentenced to 1.5 years of imprisonment. The court has found Nikolai Sokol, Kirill Yaroslavtsev, and Olga Botrakova guilty of violating the rules for holding a rally of real estate investors in Gelendzhik and sentenced each of the defendants to a fine of 15,000 roubles. The participants of the action announced their intention to challenge the court's decision.

Today, Khazir Akhkubekov, who served five days of arrest after detention during performance of lezginka in Gelendzhik, has been summoned for interrogation to the Investigating Department for the Krasnodar Territory of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). An explosion which occurred in the Khasavyurt District on August 17 became the sixth explosion since early 2017 in the territory of Dagestan. An improvised explosive device (IED) could detonate while militants were arranging a hiding. This was suggested by a source from the law enforcement agencies.

Rights defenders have informed Mikhail Fedotov, the chairman of the Presidential Council for Human Rights (HRC), that relatives of Magomed Taramov and Djamalai Tazbiev were subjected to beating at a police station. According to Mikhail Fedotov, he verifies the information through the Human Rights Council under the leader of Chechnya.

The cause of the death of two people and wounding of another one in the Khasavyurt District was, according to preliminary data, an improvised explosive device (IED), said an assistant to the head of the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
