Head of Georgia's MFA calls Medvedev's message to Federal Assembly "aggressive"

Eka Tkeshelashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, used the term "aggressive" in relation to the message of Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, presented on November 5. The head of Georgian MFA has stated it to journalists today in the morning before her working visit to Greece.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that in the beginning of his message to the Federal Assembly Dmitri Medvedev criticised the authorities of Georgia and USA. As he said, the attack of Georgian troops on South Ossetia "was a consequence of unilateral policy of the US administration."

"One should mind that in the situation, when the international community waits for some constructive steps and offers from Russia, they go on with the policy, which can be treated as aggressive," the IA "News-Georgia" quotes Ms Tkeshelashvili as saying.

President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev declared on November 5 that Russia would not retreat in the Caucasus. "We'll not fall back in the Caucasus. We'll overcome the consequences of the global economic crisis and get out of it still stronger," said Mr Medvedev.

Let us note here that President Medvedev's message to the Federal Assembly runs that in response to deployment of elements of US' "missile shield" in Poland and Czechia, Russia will deploy "Iskander" missile complexes in the Kaliningrad Region".

Dmitri Medvedev also said that Russia will continue promoting elimination of tension centres in its neighbouring regions, in Transdniestria and Nagorno-Karabakh. This statement has caused ambiguous reaction, in Ukraine, in particular.
