The FSB confirmed the arrest of the eco-activist from Tuapse.

More than a month after the arrest of the activist of "EcoWatch for the North Caucasus" Denis Matveev, the FSB department for the Krasnodar region announced a case against him. The security forces claim that Matveev confessed to distributing articles of an anti-Russian nature at the request of a pro-Ukrainian terrorist organization.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the court arrested the activist "EcoWatch for the North Caucasus" Denis Matveev due to correspondence in support of Ukraine; he had previously been searched. A criminal case has been initiated against Matveev for organizing or participating in the activities of a terrorist organization, sources reported.

Employees of the FSB of Russia for the Krasnodar region detained a member of the interregional environmental and human rights public organization "EcoWatch for the North Caucasus", who was distributing articles of an anti-Russian nature on the Internet at the request of a pro-Ukrainian terrorist organization; he has been arrested, TASS reports.

"In the city of Tuapse, the illegal activities of a member of the interregional environmental and human rights public organization "EcoWatch for the North Caucasus", a Russian citizen born in 1983, who participated in the activities of a terrorist organization banned in Russia, have been suppressed. <...> It has been established that the accused, sharing the views and ideology of the pro-Ukrainian terrorist organization, proactively established contact with its representative in the Telegram messenger. After receiving the necessary instructions from the curator, the perpetrator prepared and distributed articles of an anti-Russian nature on the Internet. He has been placed in custody," the agency reports from the FSB of Krasnodar region.

A case is being investigated against him under part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation). "The man confessed to his illegal activities at the request of a terrorist organization of Ukraine," the message states.

As clarified by TASS in the law enforcement agencies of the region, the arrested public figure is Denis Matveev.
