A contractor from Karachay-Cherkessia was killed in the military operation zone

Marat Dzhukaev from the Karachayevsky district was killed in the Kursk region. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have publicly named the names of at least 206 killed combatants from Karachay-Cherkessia.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by September 26, officials and security forces officially recognized at least 4846 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District as killed in combat, including 205 from Karachay-Cherkessia.

Marat Dzhukaev, a native of the village of Kumysh, was killed during combat operations in the Kursk region, reported the administration of the Karachayevsky district, while reporting on the transfer of his posthumous award to his relatives.

Dzhukaev went to the combat zone in August 2024. "When the special military operation began, he was refused twice, but did not retreat. On the third attempt, he was accepted for contract service," writes the official Telegram channel of the municipality.

Marat Dzhukaev was killed on January 3, 2025, in the area of the village of Kurilovka in the Kursk region. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, and he left behind a son. The age and other details of the military's biography are not provided in the officials' message.

Thus, at least 206 fighters from Karachay-Cherkessia have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives from the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District who were killed in the military operation. On September 10, it became known that 26-year-old Zurab Kahunov from Cherkessk was killed in Ukraine.
