The activist of the APFP has been arrested in Azerbaijan.

The court has sentenced Tarlan Bakhyshly, a member of the Nizami district branch of the opposition party Azerbaijan Popular Front, to 20 days in custody. Associates believe that the authorities are persecuting the activist for his posts on social media.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", activists of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) are regularly subjected to administrative arrests. For instance, in June, activist Anar Guseynov was arrested for 30 days under the article on disobedience to the police. On July 22, Kenan Ismail was arrested for the same period. On July 27, activist Elmar Piriev from the Tovuz district branch of the APFP was arrested for 10 days.

Member of the Nizami district branch of the APFP Tarlan Bakhyshly has been sentenced to 20 days of administrative arrest, the party reported.

Bakhyshly was detained on September 26.

"Tarlan left the rented apartment around 09:00-10:00 in the morning and then stopped communicating. Usually, such 'disappearances' are followed by arrests. Our worst fears were confirmed. It later turned out that he was arrested by a court decision in an administrative manner for 20 days. It is still unknown what administrative offense the young man was charged with, but one thing is clear: he was arrested on false charges for opposition activities and activity on social networks," said the head of the APFP press service Natig Adilov to the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

According to him, Bakhyshly criticized the arrest of the party leader and the socio-economic policy of the government, and one reason for his detention could be the opposition's last post on Facebook*.

Adilov pointed to the continuation of repressive policies against the APFP. "Members of our party are periodically subjected to administrative arrests for political reasons. And 20 activists of the APFP, led by our party leader Ali Kerimli, are in prison on fabricated criminal charges," said Adilov.

On September 24, Tarlan Bakhyshly posted on his Facebook* page an emotional statement about the growing social discontent of citizens. In his view, due to the unjust policies of the authorities, young people are deprived of prospects, and middle-aged people lack confidence in their children's future.

"What people want from you is not so much. People just want to live. To live without suffering, without fear, with dignity. To build their dreams, to give a future to their children. Enough! Everyone is already tired. One cannot test human patience, hope, and life like this. Let us remind you that in 2025, the Azerbaijani authorities intensified repression against the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, culminating in the arrests of Ali Kerimli and his closest associates. By the end of January 2026, 20 members of the APFP were in custody on fabricated, as party representatives believe, criminal cases.
