Security forces have been arrested in connection with the deaths of two individuals following an interrogation in Dagestan.

27-year-old Suleiman Magomedov and another police officer have been arrested in a case of torture, evidence fabrication, and incitement to suicide. The case was initiated in connection with the deaths of two individuals following an interrogation about the March shootout in the Buynaksk district of Dagestan.

As reported by “Caucasian Knot”, on the evening of March 30, police noticed a scuffle in the village of Nizhny Dzhengutai and intervened. One of the participants in the conflict opened fire on them and wounded two police officers; the shooter was detained. It later turned out that three people were injured. Relatives of two individuals interrogated by the security forces regarding the shootout informed the Public Monitoring Commission of Dagestan that one of them had died, while the other committed suicide.

In the case of torture, evidence fabrication, and incitement to suicide in Dagestan, law enforcement officers Suleiman Magomedov and, presumably, Abdulla Rasulov have been detained and arrested, “Mediazona” reported today.*

The case is related to the deaths of two individuals who were previously interrogated in connection with the March shootout in the Buynaksk district of Dagestan. According to the publication, on April 12, the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case on torture, incitement to suicide, and evidence fabrication (part 4 of article 286, part 1 of article 110, and part 1 of article 303 of the Criminal Code of Russia). Ten days later, 27-year-old Magomedov was detained and arrested.

The defense has appealed his arrest, stating that Magomedov has no criminal record, is raising a child, and cares for his mother with a disability, and is also a veteran of combat operations who served for a long time in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he “established himself as an initiative, competent, and conscientious employee.”

Magomedov's arrest has been repeatedly extended: the court ruling from July 7 states that the investigation has not yet found and questioned all the individuals who were in the police department in the Buynaksk district from April 2 to 3.

From the materials of the latest appeal against the arrest, it follows that another police officer is involved in the case. The likely accused is 34-year-old Abdulla Rasulov, whose preventive measure was extended on the same day as Magomedov's. Acquaintances recorded him in their contacts as “Abdula Obop,” “Abdula Criminal Investigation,” and “Abdulla UBOB.”
