Father and daughter from Irkutsk convicted in Rostov-on-Don for treason

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced a 19-year-old native of Irkutsk to seven years in prison for attempting to become involved in combat operations on the side of Ukraine. Earlier, the court sentenced her father to 18 years in a penal colony for treason.

According to the court, in August 2025, the citizen established contact with individuals associated with some organization in Ukraine, filled out a candidate application to join it, and continued correspondence regarding leaving the Russian Federation for the territory of Ukraine.

Her mobile phone contained an application with personal data, correspondence, photographs with the organization's symbols, information about preparations for departure, as well as an inquiry to a Ukrainian diplomatic institution regarding entry into Ukraine and signing a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Krasnodar Territory Prosecutor's Office reported today on its Telegram channel.

Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the court found her guilty of preparing to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization and also of preparing to switch to the enemy's side, and sentenced her to 7 years in prison to be served in a general regime correctional colony and one year of freedom restriction. In addition, the court confiscated her mobile phone, which she used for correspondence.

The convicted person's name is Olga Mishanina; in the summer of 2025, security forces detained her father - 55-year-old Dmitry Mishanin, reports "Mediazona".

On August 24, 2026, the prosecutor's office of Kuban reported on the sentence of a resident of the Irkutsk region. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison, with the first three years in prison and the remaining term in a strict regime colony. He was found guilty of treason and involvement in a terrorist organization, the supervisory authority reported on its Telegram channel.

According to the investigation, Mishanin "established contact with representatives of a terrorist organization and carried out assignments aimed at assisting the activities of the said organization". In addition to the actual sentence, he was sentenced to one year of freedom restriction.

The FSB reported the detention of the father and daughter in December 2025. In a press release, the security forces stated that the accused were detained in Sochi, and that the father and daughter began communicating with a representative of the Ukrainian organization while in Abkhazia, reported RIA "Novosti" on December 17, 2025.

In a video, the detained individual stated that he wanted to go to fight on the side of Ukraine but could not leave Russia due to debts. At the same time, the man reported that he was engaged in underground activities. The security forces claimed that both detainees were also gathering information about active servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In the video recording, the FSB showed the girl's correspondence with a curator, while the name of the organization she joined was blurred.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced a native of Bashkiria, Anatoly Yansitov, to 14 years in a colony for setting fire to a relay cabinet on the railway in the area of the Novoukrainsky farm in the Crimean district.
