More than 874 thousand voters are registered for the elections in Chechnya.

During the elections from September 18 to 20, there will be 541 polling stations operating in Chechnya, with 874 thousand voters registered in the republic. This is more than 100 thousand more than in the 2021 elections.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", a campaign for the election of the head of the republic is taking place in Chechnya, scheduled for September 18–20. The current head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, is running again for this position. On September 9, he demanded from the security forces to intensify the fight against provocateurs and dissenters ahead of the elections and criticized young people who, in his opinion, misuse religious clothing.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, reported on September 14 in his Telegram channel about a meeting dedicated to preparations for the elections on September 18-20.

At the meeting, the chairman of the Chechen government, Magomed Daudov, reported that 874 thousand voters are registered in the republic, and there will be 20 territorial and 541 precinct election commissions. All premises and equipment are prepared for the elections, and public observation will be ensured by 1286 observers.

The chairman of the Chechen Election Commission, Umar Baikhanov, reported that there are 534 permanent polling stations in the republic, and seven are temporary. A total of 4760 people work in the precinct commissions. 362 reserve polling places have been prepared in case of emergencies.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Chechnya, Aslan Iraskhanov, reported that the operational situation ahead of the elections is under control, security will be provided for polling stations, adjacent territories, and routes for transporting election documentation, and the Secretary of the Security Council of Chechnya, Adam Kadyrov, stated that "clear coordination between all relevant agencies has been established to ensure the safety and free expression of citizens' will".

It should be noted that in the 2021 elections, Ramzan Kadyrov received 99.7% of the votes, which in absolute numbers amounts to 711,973 people. Thus, the total number of voters in Chechnya in 2021 was 714,115 people. With an official turnout of 94.61%, the number of voters was 754,799 people. In 2016, the turnout was 94.79%, with 640,173 voters participating. Thus, in 2016, 675,359 voters could participate in the elections for the head of Chechnya.

In the upcoming elections for the head of Chechnya, analysts do not expect real political competition: the participation of two "technical" candidates is needed only to demonstrate a formal alternative to Ramzan Kadyrov.
