A resident of the North Caucasus is accused of justifying terrorism.

Investigators in Stavropol have opened a case against a resident of a neighboring republic due to a post on social media. The young man faces up to seven years in prison.

The accused is 21 years old, and the article he is charged with regarding justifying terrorism online (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) provides for a sentence of five to seven years in prison.

According to the prosecution's version, the young man held "radical-extremist views" and in October 2023 published some audio material on social media. Law enforcement concluded that the content of the publication "justifies violent terrorist actions," reported the Stavropol Investigative Committee on its Telegram channel.

The accused has been detained. "During the interrogation, the man admitted his guilt and expressed remorse for his actions," the agency's message notes. Investigators did not specify whether a preventive measure was chosen for the young man.

Stavropol security forces referred to the accused as a resident of a "neighboring republic," without specifying which region it is. The occupation of the case subject was not mentioned, and what exactly constituted his "radical views" was not clarified.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a military court in Rostov-on-Don has been considering the case of a resident of the village of Kiyankiz in the Andropov district since August, accused of publicly justifying terrorism due to a comment in a messenger. According to the prosecution's version, the woman, holding radical-extremist views, in April 2025 justified the attacks of Ukrainian drones on the city of Chapayevsk in the Samara region.
