The low quality of the debate broadcasts in South Ossetia was cited as a consequence of outdated equipment.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in the second round of the televised debates for the presidency of South Ossetia, only Kazbek Kodaev and Murat Valiev participated. The debates focused on the economic development of the republic, and both candidates particularly addressed the issues of agricultural development and the distribution of funds allocated by Russia. The Telegram channel "Bonvarnon" suggested that the acting president of South Ossetia, Marat Kambolov, did not attend the debates precisely because of the failed first round of televised debates due to technical reasons. After that, the head of the information and press committee of South Ossetia, Maria Kotaeva, published a text on her channel in defense of the television staff and explained that they were not to blame. According to her, the television staff is not responsible for transmitting the signal to viewers' screens. And those who watched the debates on television through a home antenna saw them with clear sound and no interference."

Only those who are not familiar with the real conditions of its operation can criticize the work of GTRK "Ir", said the chairwoman of the information and press committee of South Ossetia Maria Kotaeva at a press conference.

Kotaeva responded to complaints from social media users about the poor image quality and interruptions during the first presidential debates.

"The situation that has arisen is not a personnel fault, but a problem in the technical part, the solution of which requires significant financial resources," — quoted her words by the IA "Res".

She mentioned that Kambolov, during his visit to the television station, noted the outdated equipment and initiated cooperation with Russian specialists due to the wear and tear of the equipment at the television station.

GTRK "Ir" was visited by two groups of specialists from Channel One: a creative group (chief and creative directors) and a technical group.

"Their assessment of the state of the television was such that the television colleagues are heroes if they still go on air with such technical equipment," emphasized Kotaeva.

To completely update the equipment, huge financial investments are needed, however, the budget does not provide for funds for technical equipment.

Emphasizing the wear and tear of the equipment, Kotaeva clarified that it is not just outdated, but "very old" technology, on which no one works anymore.

It should be noted that the press conference was held by "Sputnik South Ossetia" at its venue, but the speaker was almost inaudible.

"The press conference is ordinary, but only noise, car signals, and fragments of phrases can be heard. The voices of the speakers drown in this chaos. This is a Russian federal media outlet, and the sound is as if from a neighboring yard. In Tskhinval, apparently, they are used to it being acceptable," commented the Telegram channel "Bonvarnon".
