Supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration held a rally in Tbilisi on the 651st day of protests, demanding the release of political prisoners. The father of convicted activist Zviad Tsetskhladze stated that the admission of guilt by some activists and their pardoning does not mean a victory for the authorities.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 8, on the 650th day, supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration held a rally in Tbilisi calling to continue the struggle and demanded the release of political prisoners. Continuous demonstrations also took place in Batumi and Kutaisi.

On the 651st day, residents of Georgia gathered in front of the Parliament building and Tbilisi City Council, continuing to demand the release of political prisoners, the abolition of repressive mechanisms, and the conduct of elections in a free and fair environment, reports Publika.

Participants of the rally held flags of Georgia, the European Union, Ukraine, and the USA. Some participants held placards: "Bidzina, return to Moscow", "Bidzina without a conscience". Activists also held photographs of the convicted opera singer Paata Burchaladze, according to a publication by photographer MO SE on Facebook*.

According to a video posted on Facebook* by user David Chkheidze, today more than 150 people gathered at the Parliament of Georgia on Rustaveli. Continuous rallies also took place in Batumi, Kutaisi, and Ozurgeti.

Today, Zurab Tsetskhladze, the father of Zviad Tsetskhladze, convicted for participating in protests, responded to the statement of the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili, who stated that the admission of guilt by released demonstrators during the procedural agreement confirms the legality of their prosecution. According to the father of the convicted activist, the authorities perceived the admission and pardon of several prisoners as their victory and then began a "dirty attack" against those remaining in prison.

"Since the authorities accepted the admission and decision to pardon several prisoners of conscience, they considered it a victory and began a dirty attack against the rest. These are prisoners of conscience and political prisoners fighting for the freedom and independence of this country and for its European future, and they will definitely emerge from prison victorious," said Zurab Tsetskhladze.

Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Law enforcement conducted harsh dispersals of protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detained protesters. During the protests, thousands of people faced administrative prosecution.
