The court sentenced the participants in the hostage-taking at the Rostov colony to long terms.

Sentences of 21 to 29 years of imprisonment were received by those accused of participating in the riot and hostage-taking at SIZO-1 in Rostov-on-Don; they will serve the first years of their punishment in prison.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", five defendants in the case of the hostage-taking at SIZO-1 in Rostov-on-Don spoke in court with their final words via video link. Daniil Kamnev refused to say anything, while Ramzan Albekov, Magomed Alkhanov, and Malik Gandaloev stated that they had nothing to add to their previously stated position.

The Southern District Military Court today sentenced five participants in the riot at SIZO No. 1 in Rostov.

Daniil Kamnev was sentenced to 29 years in prison, with the first 12 years to be served in prison, and a fine of 300,000 rubles. Ramzan Albekov received 21 years of imprisonment, Magomed Alkhanov — 23, and Malik Gandaloev — 28; all of them will spend the first seven years in prison, and Gandaloev was also fined 500,000 rubles. Adam Kodzoev was sentenced to 26 years, with the first 10 years in prison, and a fine of 660,000 rubles, the court's press service reported on its Telegram channel.

According to the investigation and the court, Kamnev, Albekov, and Alkhanov took an oath to an internationally banned terrorist organization, after which they began to actively participate in its activities. According to the developed action plan, the members of the organized group planned to escape from the cell at night, after which Kamnev, Alkhanov, and Albekov were to break into the armory of the SIZO, seize firearms and grenades. Other group members were to take hostages among the SIZO staff, negotiate with law enforcement officials, and disrupt the institution's activities; other individuals and Gandaloev were to free Kodzoev, who was held in another SIZO cell, and other defendants accused of committing terrorist crimes.

Also, according to the investigation and the court, it was planned to manufacture homemade incendiary devices, which, if the prisoners' demands were not met, would be used to set fire to the institution's buildings, as well as to present a number of demands to the Russian government - to cease anti-terrorist operations in the North Caucasus and the Republic of Syria; to release individuals involved in terrorist activities from places of detention. After the escape, the members of the organized group were to leave the SIZO territory using provided vehicles.

On June 16, 2024, Kamnev, Gandaloev, and other group members tore off pre-sawed bars from the window grate, after which, using a rope made from sheets, they left the cell; however, Alkhanov and Albekov could not escape due to the rope breaking. Gandaloev struck an employee of the SIZO but was detained, thus his criminal actions were stopped.

Kamnev, along with another group member, used violence to take two SIZO employees hostage and made demands for the release of the other members of the organized group and the provision of transportation for an unhindered exit from the institution's territory.

Recall that on June 16, 2024, detainees at the Rostov SIZO took two employees of the isolation facility hostage. They identified themselves as a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in Russia, demanding a vehicle, weapons, and the opportunity to leave the SIZO. Security forces conducted a storming operation, killing the hostage-takers and freeing the hostages. Earlier, analysts interviewed by "Caucasian Knot" noted that there is a shortage of staff in FSIN institutions, and the existing staff work with significant overtime for modest pay, which contributes to the development of corruption and violations of safety rules for personal gain.
