Demonstrators in Tbilisi and Batumi demanded to abandon the pro-Russian course

Supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration took to the streets in Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi for the 632nd consecutive day, demanding the release of political prisoners and an end to cooperation with Russia.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration hold daily protests in Tbilisi, Batumi, as well as in Kutaisi and Akhaltsikhe. On August 20, it was the 631st day of continuous protests.

Demonstrators with national flags and EU flags gathered today outside the buildings of the Parliament of Georgia and the Tbilisi City Council, demanding the release of political prisoners and the repeal of repressive laws, as well as a return to a Euro-Atlantic course and free elections. Today’s action is taking place for the 632nd evening in a row, reports Publika.

According to Mtavari's video, at least a hundred people participated in the gathering outside the Parliament, some of whom held, in addition to Georgian and European flags, flags of the USA and Ukraine. One participant's poster read: "Russia, get out!"

In Batumi, supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration gathered outside the Constitutional Court building. They held posters: "Russia is an occupier", "Antsukhilidze is immortal", and "Freedom for regime prisoners", according to a publication by Batumelebi.

The daily action in support of Georgia's pro-European political course also took place in Kutaisi - at the city hall, at least 16 people gathered, reports Kutaisipost. Activists held flags of Georgia, the EU, the UK, and Ukraine.

The opposition announced another Saturday march from the "Avlabari" metro station to the government office. The action, like the previous march, will focus on the issue of mass migration of Georgian citizens. The procession under the slogan: "When the state serves Ivanishvili, cities and villages empty" will begin at 19:00 on August 22, according to the Protest24 page.

Protest participants in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Law enforcement has conducted harsh crackdowns on protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detaining protesters. Thousands of people have faced administrative prosecution during the protests.
