A resident of Sochi received a sentence for extremist publications on social media.

The appellate court refused to mitigate the punishment of a resident of Sochi, whose publications were found by law enforcement and the court to contain calls for violence against non-Muslims.

"Caucasian Knot" reported that a 23-year-old resident of the village of Baranovka in the Khosta district of Sochi was charged with extremism after publishing self-made video materials online. By the summer of 2025, he had already been held administratively liable for inciting hatred and hostility (Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).

A 24-year-old Sochi resident was sentenced to actual time for inciting hatred after publishing extremist video. The man admitted his guilt even at the investigation stage, reported the Investigative Committee of the Krasnodar Territory.

In the video, which was edited and published by the defendant, the court saw hostile statements and humiliation of the dignity of a group of people based on nationality and religious affiliation. "The statements also contained calls for the use of physical force against 'non-Muslims,'" notes the Unified Press Service of the Courts of Kuban.

The court sentenced him to two years in a settlement colony - the minimum term of imprisonment provided for by the article (part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of Russia provides for imprisonment from two to five years).

The accused attempted to appeal the verdict of the Khosta District Court of Sochi, but the panel of the regional court for criminal cases did not change the punishment imposed on him. After the appellate process, the verdict came into legal force.
