The pace of the school's renovation disappointed the residents of Nalchik.

Residents of the "Alexandrovka" microdistrict in Nalchik hoped that school No. 30 would accept students after a prolonged renovation on September 1, but the work is still far from completion. The authorities promised to take the pace of work under control.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the renovation of school No. 30 in Nalchik has not been ongoing for six months, and children are forced to attend other educational institutions for the second year, a local resident complained on social media. Other city residents, commenting on his post, stated that due to studying in the second shift, children return home late, and because of the poor schedule, some of them have given up additional classes.

A correspondent from "Caucasian Knot" visited the school and spoke with residents of the microdistrict.

The reason for the prolonged renovation is a lack of manpower, one of the representatives of the institution told on the condition of anonymity.

"The contractor hires Uzbeks and Tajiks. They work better than our locals – they don't drink, they don't ask for time off for personal matters like locals do. For example, a local might say that he has a wedding in the family and that he won't be available for three days, but an Uzbek or Tajik wouldn't say that. However, the police periodically conduct raids on migrants, and fines are imposed on the contractor," he told the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

The interlocutor said that inside the school building, the renovation work is almost complete – currently, electrical wiring is being installed, and fire safety systems are being set up. According to him, the renovation is planned to be completed by the end of September.

It was not possible to enter the building; the entrance doors were closed. As for the facade of the school – visually, it is far from completion. The entire territory of the school is in an unsightly state, overgrown with weeds.

Nalchik residents spoke about their unfulfilled hopes for the completion of the renovation

A resident of the microdistrict said that her grandchildren will attend the 11th school for the third year, where they study in the 5th and 7th grades in the second shift.

Another resident of Nalchik also spoke about the difficulties due to the prolonged renovation of the school.

"I have three children. They finish classes at different times, and I have to wait for them when I pick them up from school. We really hoped that the school would open by September 1, but that didn't happen," said a resident of the microdistrict who introduced herself as Oksana.

The authorities promised to expedite the renovation

After publications appeared online about the prolonged renovation of secondary school No. 30 in the "Alexandrovka" microdistrict, the authorities of the republic took the school's renovation under special control. On August 10, by order of the head of the republic, the acting mayor of the city Azmatgeriy Ashkhotov visited the school.

To expedite the elimination of the backlog, a new contracting organization will start work tomorrow. They have been tasked with completing the renovation in the shortest possible time and ensuring the proper quality of all work. The situation remains under constant control. We will continue to inform parents and residents of the city about the progress of the school's renovation," Ashkhotov's words are quoted on the Nalchik administration's Telegram page.
