Two people were detained in Dagestan after the death of a tourist during an excursion.

In Dagestan, the boat driver and the organizer of the transportation were detained after the death of a 60-year-old tourist from Izhevsk as a result of an accident in the Sulak Canyon.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the boat with tourists sank in the Sulak Canyon after colliding with a rock, one passenger died. Eight other passengers required medical assistance.

According to the investigation, a 47-year-old individual entrepreneur organized paid excursions on the boat. The boat driver was a 58-year-old man who did not have the right to operate water transport, the Western Interregional Transport Investigation Department reported today on its Telegram channel.

The driver is accused of violating traffic safety rules 1 , and the excursion organizer is accused of providing unsafe services 2 . The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspects is currently being resolved.

Investigators examined the scene of the incident. The circumstances of what happened are being established, the agency clarified.

"Caucasian Knot" reported that in May 2025, during a boat trip in the Sulak Canyon, a tourist from the Yaroslavl region died, and four others were injured. The organizer of the trip was arrested afterward.
