Nalchik residents complained about the prolonged renovation of the school.

The renovation of school No. 30 in Nalchik has not been ongoing for six months, and children are forced to attend other educational institutions for the second year, a local resident complained on social media. Other city residents, commenting on his post, stated that due to studying in the second shift, children return home late, and because of the poor schedule, some of them have given up additional classes.

One of the residents of Nalchik complained on social media that the contractor has violated the deadlines for the renovation of the local school No. 30.

"No renovation work is being done at the school. And children have been forced to attend another school in the second shift for several academic years. After 7-8 lessons, in rain and snow, children have to walk home in the dark. Many had to give up their additional classes because they can't keep up," the complaint published on August 9 in the Instagram*-public goloskbr states.

Renovation work has been halted for more than six months. The part that was renovated is flooded due to the lack of a roof, the Nalchik resident added.

This post in the Instagram*-public goloskbr, which has about 190 thousand users, had received 668 likes and 160 comments by 1:00 PM Moscow time on August 10.

Users confirmed that the renovation has dragged on and has not been carried out in recent times.

"We ask you to pay attention to our school: no renovations have been done in a year and a half, other schools are renovated in six months, and it is scary to send children to ours. Even if they finish the renovation – there have been no workers for several months, and we are told that renovation work is ongoing," wrote user gidgino.

Commentators described the everyday difficulties faced by children studying in the second shift at another school.

"In the evening, they can't get home due to overcrowded minibuses during rush hour. They have been studying in the second shift at another school for the second year," wrote marianna_5504.

"All winter, you wait with bated breath for your child from the second shift: the minibuses are packed, children walk home, not all parents can pick up their child from school every evening," complained safina_sun.

"Because of the second shift, I had to give up additional sports classes. My older son was preparing for the Unified State Exam with tutors, and it was hard to arrange because the tutors we had already agreed with worked in the second shift," wrote elena_vseok_.

Commentators described the technical condition of the school, including problems with the roof and internal premises.

"The renovation is stalled, everything is overgrown on the school grounds, all the ceilings inside are dilapidated because the roof is poor. Instead of starting the renovation from the roof, they started from the first floor, and now all the new ceilings are also dilapidated – this is real waste and damage to property," believes user oksmak_2111.

Part of the discussion concerned the overall state of infrastructure in the area where the school is located.

"The entire Alexandrovka district is abandoned and forgotten by everyone! No infrastructure. At least the school was for the children, and it has been abandoned," wrote oksana.borieva.

"The only district where only new buildings are being constructed, there was only one school, and they couldn’t even renovate it properly – it’s all falling apart. Why are the authorities silent?" asked user lesay07.

As of 1:00 PM Moscow time, there are no comments on the websites of the Nalchik administration and the Ministry of Education of Kabardino-Balkaria regarding the complaints of local residents about the prolonged renovation of the school.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that on November 25, 2025, parents of students at the school in the village of Urvan complained about the years-long renovation of the educational institution.

According to them, due to unfinished work, younger students are forced to study in the second shift, and the academic week for all students has been extended to six days. Parents asked to organize access to the building through the main entrance, not the side entrance, which is dirty, and to establish school meals for all children.

Recall that on August 3, 2026, residents of Kabardino-Balkaria complained about the high costs of preparing children for school. According to them, a complete set of clothing, shoes, and school supplies for one child costs about 30 thousand rubles, and prices for school supplies rise every year.
