The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia called on Georgia to take responsibility for Saakashvili's actions.

The responsibility for the war of August 2008 should lie with Georgia, represented by Saakashvili, stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, commenting on the statements of the Prime Minister of Georgia that "the Five-Day War" was unleashed by Saakashvili.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the third president of Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili, and the countries whose instructions he followed are responsible for unleashing the "Five-Day War", said representatives of the "Georgian Dream". The West used Georgia as a weapon against Russia, noted former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia published a comment in connection with the statements of the Georgian authorities on the 18th anniversary of the Five-Day War.

"Literally the day before, the political leadership of Georgia, represented by Kobakhidze, officially recognized former President Saakashvili as the perpetrator of military aggression. In fact, this has been known from the very beginning, and South Ossetia has stated this for the last 18 years. It is also quite obvious that it is not only Saakashvili who is guilty. As the head of state, he had the mandate to act on behalf of the Georgian state, issuing criminal orders while conducting anti-Ossetian and anti-Abkhaz policies. Therefore, the responsibility for the war of August 2008 should lie with the country as a subject of this policy, including the figures of the Saakashvili regime, as objects implementing his policy," the agency stated in its Telegram channel.

The Ministry also called on official Tbilisi to refrain from attempts to interfere in the affairs of other countries and to take a more constructive position, including in the work of the format of international discussions on security in the South Caucasus (MDZ).
