Thousands of residents of Makhachkala remain without electricity

The Makhachkala administration asked citizens not to use powerful electrical appliances due to the overload of the power grid, which caused irritation among the townspeople. On the evening of August 6, residents of houses on Kadyrov Street blocked the road due to prolonged outages; after the protest action, the power supply to their homes was restored.

In Makhachkala, about 8 thousand residents remain without electricity, three power supply lines in the city are "temporarily limited in operation," the press service of the Dagestan government reported tonight.

"The reason for the temporary outages was the triggering of the automatic protection of equipment under high air temperatures and increased load on the power grid complex," the message states.

The government assured that specialists from "Dagenegro" are "working in an intensified mode" on switching lines to restore power supply to residents. The Ministry of Energy and Tariffs of Dagestan is monitoring the situation, and after the restoration work is completed, "an analysis of the causes of technological disruptions will be conducted."

The head of the Situational Center of Dagestan, Israfil Israfilov, previously reported on his Telegram channel that "emergency recovery work is ongoing in several areas in Makhachkala and the suburbs."

"Specialists are doing everything possible to restore electricity to homes as soon as possible. The power supply to houses on Kadyrov Street has already been restored. Traffic on the street is fully open, and transport is operating in a normal mode," he wrote.

Residents of Makhachkala have been regularly complaining about problems with electricity and water supply for several years. At the end of July 2025, Makhachkala residents complained about prolonged power outages lasting several days. Officials explained the power interruptions by repair work and abnormal heat.

In August 2025, residents of the Reducer settlement held an impromptu street action due to the lack of electricity in their homes. After that, the city administration reported that the power supply to most homes had been restored. In the summer of 2024, residents of the settlement also held an impromptu protest action due to power outages.
