The court in Nalchik sentenced serviceman Islam Guchev to six years in prison, finding him guilty of desertion.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 24, 2022, parts 2.1, 3.1, and 5 of Article 337 on desertion or leaving a place of service during mobilization were introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The amendments provide for imprisonment for up to 10 years. The tightening of legislation after the announcement of mobilization led to harsher sentences for absence from military units or desertion.

According to the case materials, serviceman Islam Guchev left his place of service without permission on July 26, 2025, and was detained by a police officer on January 22 of the current year at a checkpoint on the federal highway in the Uspensky district of the Krasnodar region. Then, on February 24, Guchev again left his place of service without permission and on June 8, he voluntarily appeared at the Prokhladny police station.

Guchev admitted his guilt in committing the crimes and expressed regret for his actions. The Nalchik garrison military court sentenced him to six years of imprisonment in a general regime colony, the court's press service reported today on its page in the social network "VKontakte".

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the court in Nalchik sentenced contractor Garnik Martirosyan to one year and two months in prison, finding him guilty of being absent from service for more than ten days.
