A resident of Krasnodar is accused of seven episodes of fakes about the army

Investigators accused a resident of Krasnodar of seven episodes of spreading fakes about the Russian army motivated by political and national hatred. He has been placed in a pre-trial detention center.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the dissemination of fakes about the army was introduced on March 4, 2022, after the start of the Russian operation in Ukraine. This article of the Criminal Code contradicts the Constitution of Russia, as well as basic principles of law, human rights activists stated.

The resident of Krasnodar is charged with publicly disseminating knowingly false information about the use of the armed forces of Russia, committed on the grounds of political and national hatred (paragraph "d" of part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of Russia). This article provides for a prison sentence of five to ten years.

According to the investigation's version, from August 2024 to February 2025, the resident of the regional center posted on his social media page, accessible for free viewing, publications with "knowingly false" information about the actions of Russian military forces on the Ukrainian front. During the interrogation, the man gave confessional testimony, reported the Investigative Committee of Russia for Krasnodar Krai in its Telegram channel.

At the investigator's request, the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention for the accused. The name, age, and occupation of the accused, the name of the social network, and the specific content of the publications were not specified in the agency's message. "Caucasian Knot" currently does not have comments from the accused or his lawyer.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a resident of the Stavropol Krai, Sergey Dubkov, was sentenced to six years in a penal colony for fakes about the army due to comments on Telegram. Before the criminal case was initiated, he was subjected to "carousel" arrests under administrative articles.
