The number of killed fighters from southern Russia in Ukraine has reached 9500.

At least 4727 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4773 military personnel from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the special operation in Ukraine.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", as of July 19, the authorities and security forces have officially recognized the deaths of at least 9450 military personnel from the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) and the Southern Federal District (SFD) during the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. The highest number of military casualties has been from Dagestan.

Since the beginning of the SMO in Ukraine, representatives of the authorities and security forces have officially recognized the deaths of at least 9500 fighters from the southern regions of Russia and the republics of the North Caucasus.

According to official data as of July 27, at least 4727 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District have been killed during the military operation.

The highest number of casualties among natives of the NCFD still comes from Dagestan – 2045 fighters. The deaths of 966 military personnel from the Stavropol Krai, 589 from North Ossetia, 457 from Kabardino-Balkaria 1 , 265 from Chechnya 2 , 205 from Ingushetia, and 200 from Karachay-Cherkessia have been confirmed.

In the SFD, 4773 military personnel have been officially recognized as killed during the special operation. The highest number of casualties is from the Volgograd region – 1816. The deaths of 956 military personnel from the Rostov region, 873 from the Krasnodar Krai, 752 from the Astrakhan region, 235 from Kalmykia, and 141 from Adygea have also been confirmed.

It should be noted that the actual losses among military personnel from the North Caucasus may significantly exceed the official figures. This applies to all regions of the NCFD, but is especially relevant for Chechnya. In February 2023, Ramzan Kadyrov urged regional leaders not to disclose the number of killed.

It is worth mentioning that the first official representative to report that a Russian soldier was killed in the SMO zone was the former head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov. On February 26, 2022, he reported that officer Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov was killed in Ukraine.
