Farmers in Armenia blocked the highway due to problems with selling their products.

In Armenia, agricultural producers blocked the Yerevan – Yeraskh highway due to local enterprises refusing to buy tomatoes and cucumbers from them.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", Russian authorities previously restricted the import of several goods from Armenia. Thus, on June 27, the Rosselkhoznadzor suspended the import of fish products.

In Armenia, a group of local residents blocked the Yerevan – Yeraskh highway on July 20 due to problems with selling their products. One of the participants in the action, resident of the Ararat region Artak Arutyunyan, reported that he has 60 tons of tomatoes in his fields and that factories refuse to buy them, News.am reported on July 20.

"Every year, this situation occurs; until people gather, the issue is not resolved. In 2025, they promised that this year would be better, but this year is even worse. Our tomatoes are intended for factories, but they are not being purchased; they say: we cannot export the products, so why buy them? I currently have 60 tons, and I don’t know what to do," the publication quoted the farmer's words.

Another participant in the action noted that Minister of Economy Gevork Papoyan promised to resolve the issue with both tomatoes and cucumbers, but the problem with selling them remains unresolved. "Both factories are not accepting the products, so what should we do?" he asked.

After 15 minutes, the farmers agreed to unblock the highway, the publication noted.

A video is attached to the publication, showing the highway with a buildup of cars. It further shows that the cause of the traffic jam is several dozen people blocking the road. A police officer is visible nearby, and journalists are interviewing the participants of the protest.

It is worth noting that earlier, the authorities of Armenia attempted to minimize the damage from the Russian embargo on agricultural products with a subsidy program for farmers. The Armenian government promised support measures for producers of fruits, wine, and mineral water who send goods to other countries. On June 11, it became known about the ban on the import of almost all plant-based products from Armenia. Florists reported that due to flowers intended for export to Russia remaining in the domestic market, demand and prices fell sharply.
