The 600th day of protests in Tbilisi was marked by a march in support of the detainee in Telavi.

Protesters in Tbilisi marked 600 days of continuous actions outside the parliament building in Tbilisi and held a march in support of Georgy Chigladze, detained in Telavi at the request of a Russian tourist.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 19, on the 599th day of daily protests, protests against the policy of "Georgian Dream" and demanding the release of political prisoners took place in Tbilisi and Batumi.

Supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration held a protest today in front of the parliament building on the 600th consecutive day. Activists celebrated the round date and held a march in support of Georgy Chigladze, arrested after a conflict with a Russian tourist in Telavi.

“Civil protests on Rustaveli Avenue have been ongoing for 600 days. Citizens demand the return of the country to a Euro-Atlantic course, the release of political prisoners, the repeal of repressive laws, and fair elections,” informs the publication Publika.

The march in support of Georgy Chigladze was spontaneous, and its participants walked from the parliament building to the government chancellery. Activists walked through the tourist streets of Tbilisi, notes Tbilisi_life.

Demonstrators held placards: “My solidarity with Georgy Chigladze”, “Freedom to Afghan Sadigov”, “600 days - “Georgian Dream”, go away”, “Freedom to Georgy Chigladze”, “Protest action 600 days”, “Russia - occupier”, “Victory is ours”, “Georgian land and water are not for sale”, according to photos by photographer Georgy Mosiashvili (Mo Se) and Georgian media on Facebook*.

In front of the parliament, activists formed the number 600. Participants of the action were also given commemorative badges dedicated to the “anniversary” action - with the inscription “Thank you for your struggle! Victory will be ours! 600 days”. Additionally, during the action on Rustaveli Avenue, activists wove a national flag.

In a letter delivered through a lawyer, the arrested Georgy Chigladze expressed his readiness to “fight to the end”. The prosecutor's office has already charged him and intends to request bail as a preventive measure.

“Thank you for your support. I will fight and defend our dignity to the end. I am very sorry that this woman was harmed, but I did not want that. Any unintentional action taken during the conflict can cost everyone dearly. Therefore, I ask you and urge all of you: try not to succumb to provocations and do not act under the influence of emotions caused by insults,” quotes Chigladze's letter Netgazeti.

Until the bail of 5,000 lari (1,895 USD) is posted, the accused will remain in isolation. Chigladze faces up to three years in prison.

Protest participants in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Law enforcement has conducted harsh dispersals of protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detaining protesters.
