The court terminated the case against SVO participant Marik Kokoev from Vladikavkaz for drunk driving.

The Southern District Military Court terminated the case against SVO participant Marik Kokoev from Vladikavkaz, accused of driving under the influence.

According to the case materials, Vladikavkaz resident Marik Kokoev previously refused to undergo a medical examination for intoxication, for which he was deprived of the right to drive a vehicle.

After some time, Kokoev signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense to participate in the military operation in Ukraine, and police caught him driving a vehicle. The Vladikavkaz garrison military court terminated the case against the SVO participant due to the absence of an offense. Law enforcement officials filed a complaint with the Southern District Military Court, demanding the case be returned for reconsideration.

The Southern District Military Court upheld the ruling of the previous court and denied the law enforcement officials' complaint, as stated in the case card published on the court's website.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that courts in the southern regions of Russia have repeatedly issued lenient sentences to military personnel, considering their participation in the SVO as a mitigating circumstance. In particular, on October 15, 2023, the Military Court in Makhachkala sentenced contract serviceman Musa Musaev to seven years of conditional imprisonment, finding him guilty in a case of illegal arms trafficking.
