As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the spiritual administration of Muslims in Chechnya reported on February 14 that since 2017, when the commissions for resolving family conflicts were established, 3009 divorced couples have been reunited in the republic.

Since July 4, 2017, when the commissions for resolving family conflicts began operating in Chechnya, as of July 11 of this year, 6020 divorced couples have been identified in the republic, of which 3038 have been reunited. The total number of children in these families is 5371, reported the state television channel "Grozny" on its website on July 11.

It should be noted that the commissions for resolving family conflicts in Chechnya were established by the directive of the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov. Analysts interviewed by "Caucasian Knot" previously noted that family reunification occurs under pressure and often becomes traumatic for those who for various reasons decided to divorce.

The commissions established in Chechnya to harmonize marital and family relations receive information about marriages concluded under an agreement with the civil registry offices, stated earlier the head of the apparatus of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims in Chechnya, Supyan Kurbanov.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that human rights defenders have repeatedly pointed out the critical situation regarding women's rights in the republics of the North Caucasus. Traditions and customs there predispose to violence against women in the family; authorities consider domestic violence by husbands to be normal, and victims of violence are reluctant to contact the police, they noted.
